NAIROBI, Kenya, May 14 – Generation Africa has rolled out the 2023 edition of the Gogettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition, which primarily targets the youthful populace.
The agripreneurship competition applications that started on May 8th will end on May 19th of next month.
The final pitch, which will be held at the AGRF Summit in September 2023, will see two young female and male African entrepreneurs awarded US$50,000 each to accelerate their journeys.
This comes as Generation Africa is celebrating its fifth birthday with the aim of inspiring millions of youths to pursue careers in the fast-evolving agri-food sector.
“Agripreneurship is the biggest, most important opportunity in Africa. Especially with the power of emerging technologies in the sector, we want African youth to grab this opportunity with both hands,” said Dickson Naftali, Head of Generation Africa.
Naftali further emphasized the need for a strong, African-led agri-food sector, indicating that it is the company’s best hope for a prosperous continent without hunger and malnutrition.
“We must develop our agri-food sector better, more sustainably, and more responsibly. “he added.
The competition is open to all African agripreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 who are the founders or co-founders of innovative and scalable agri-food businesses on the continent.
The organization observes that it is also keen on incorporating women by empowering them in pursuit of achieving a positive food future for Africa.
“In order for Africa and the world to achieve a nature-positive food future, capacity-building and empowerment of farmers and agri-entrepreneurs especially women and young people are critical,” said Svein Tore Holsether, Generation Africa co-founder.
“Generation Africa and the GoGettaz Competition play a vital role in helping to support this continent’s best and brightest who are contributing to regional and global, sustainable food security,” Holsether added.
