NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 20 — Former Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Amb Macharia Kamau on Wednesday named Honorary Fellow of the International Science Council (ISC).
The global organization with membership from about 140 nations hailed Amb Kamau’s contribution to the promotion of science as a public good.
He was listed among 2023 fellows alongside Kenyan scholars Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak and Prof. Vasey Mwaja.
The Council, headquartered in Paris, is set to hold its Governing Board meeting in Nairobi from May 4-8 next year.
ISC works to catalyse and convene scientific expertise, advice and influence on issues of major concern to both science and society.
The Council was created in 2018 following theΒ mergerΒ between the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC).
