NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 23 – Digital lending platform Tala has confirmed Annstella Mumbi as the new General Manager (GM).
Prior to the new post, Mumbi served as the firm’s acting GM as well as Global Director of Growth.
She now joins a list of women who have taken up executive roles in local and international companies.
“Over the past three years at Tala, Mumbi has shown tremendous leadership, expanded her scope multiple times and most recently served as our Interim General Manager,” said Jori Pearsall, Chief Business Officer of Tala, while making the announcement to the Kenyan team.
“She is able to bring the Kenya leadership team together and rally Tala around a bold vision for Kenya’s next phase of growth,” Pearsall added.
Mumbi has a decade of experience cutting across fintech, EdTech, and venture funding, having held multiple roles in strategy, growth, expansion, and overall business leadership in various markets such as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
“Beyond the vision, she will continue to lead the team of 130 Talazens in Kenya by bringing together new technology, partnerships and ways of operating to drive the business forward while never losing sight of our Kenyan customers. I am beyond excited to see the growth she can drive from here,” Pearsall stated.
The new GM takes over the roles at a time when the company seeks to transition into a full-service financial services provider over the next year.
