NYERI, Kenya, Feb 1 – Central Regional Director of Education John Lekakeny has resigned from public service as he prepared to vie for Kilgoris Parliamentary seat.

Lekakeny handed in his resignation on Tuesday morning at the Regional Headquarters at the Nyeri Town office.

He has been in public service for the las t 28 years.

Lekakeny said that his wealth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable as he gets into politics having rose from an ordinary teacher to serve in various administrative posts within the ministry of education for the last twenty-eight years.

He said that should he get elected in forthcoming general elections, he will, over and above other parliamentary duties facilitate a successful roll out of Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) in his capacity as MP.

He described the curriculum as godsend as it entails promotion of talents in learners, a thing that the current system misses.

“I will do everything possible to ensure that CBC succeeds because I am very optimistic that it will revolutionize our education sector. I am so far happy with what the government has done in regard to rolling it out,” he said.

While handing over the office to the new Director Milton Nzioka, Ololtuaa urged him and others in public service to always endeavor to create a positive impact with humility and service
