NAIROBI, Kenya Feb. 15 — An association for Chinese businesses in Kenya has given a boost to Mcedo Beijing School for its feeding program in support of disadvantaged slum children in Mathare.
The donation was made through the Kenya China Economic and Trade Association (KCETA) which brings together various Chinese companies in Kenya.
They were accompanied by Zhang Yijun, who is the minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.
Zhang said the donations are very critical in helping the school provide meals for the children to enable them complete their studies.
The donation from KCETA was made through Liu Chenghui, the acting chairman.
He assured of continued support to the school from the companies as a way to give back to society.
“We are convinced that with our joint efforts and contribution, China-Kenya friendship and cooperation will grow from strength to strength with a bright future,” he said.
The school’s director, Benedict Kiage lauded KCETA and the embassy for always supporting the school, hence enabling learners not only in academics but extra curriculum activities as well.

The Chinese Embassy in Kenya funded the construction of Mcedo Beijing School in 2007 and in November 2012, the KCETA raised money to support the expansion of the learning facility whose student population currently stands at 526.
