KERUGOYA, Jan 14 – Head of Public Service Felix Kosgei has assured Kenyans that the Country is heading in the right direction and no one should tell them otherwise.
Addressing mourners at the funeral service of Gladys Wanjiku Muriuki at Ngiriambu ACK Church in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, he noted the government has programs, strategies and policies for betterment of the economy and all people.
The late Gladys was sister to Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni Muriuki ( Health and Professional Standards) who succumbed to cancer.
Kosgei used the platform to affirm the commitment of the president on turning around the economy of the nation. He added that the Kenya Kwanza manifesto will be fully implemented and it was a marketing tool by the ruling coalition.
However, he raised concerns over increased cases of alcoholism and drug abuse in central Kenya.
He warned that if they are not careful they are going to lose a generation. He challenged the clergy, parents and National Government Administration Offices (NGAOs)to be on alert to eliminate vice in the region. Kosgei noted that alcoholism is a serious impediment to development of the country and should be fought in one voice.
The head of Public service urged the residents to invest in education. He informed them that the country cannot move anywhere without education as they can’t either get employed or be self employed.
Despite Many being jobless, Kosgei said the country’s economy is improving hence more jobs will be created , also job migration outside the country.
He requested graduates to consider online jobs by foreign companies because they pay well.
Education is critical in every step.
Kosgei said the government runs from taxes paid by citizens to do projects, no money will be stolen.
He called upon public servants on both levels government to be vigilant, to ensure no wastage on their departments.
Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha said the court is blocking health reforms meant to uplift the citizens of Kenya.
She cited the plan to lower NHIF monthly contribution from Sh500 to Sh300 ought to have been implemented as of now but some people who are beneficiaries of comprehensive health coverage are the ones sponsoring court cases.
He assured people that after cases, she will only require 2 weeks to implement the program.
She further advised the residents to visit the hospital for regular checkup for early diagnosis of some diseases.
Among those attending the event was Kirinyaga County Governor Ann Waiguru, Principal Secretaries, MPs and staff from the ministry of health.
