KISII, Kenya, Jan 9 — A magistrate court in Kisii has granted an application by the police to hold a man suspected to have killed his two daughters for fourteen additional days pending a mention on January 23.
Nelson Momanyi Ontita, 35, appeared at a court in Ogembo over the murder of two girls aged 10 months and two years at Kiobegi village in Nyamache Subcounty in Kisii.
He was presented before Principal Magistrate Calestous Sindani under a miscellaneous application.
Prosecution council Ian Mukusi told the court to grant the police 14 days to complete investigations following an affidavit sworn in by the investigation officer handling this case.
“We are praying with this court to give the investigation officers 14 days to detain the suspect as they complete the investigations,” the prosecutor told the court.
Further Mukusi said besides investigations, the officers will record witness statements and a mental assessment of the suspect.
Ontita did not oppose the application to be detained in police custody.
He will be held at Nyangusu Police Station.
