Ex-Elgeyo Marakwet MP Jane Kiptoo to chair Bomas of Kenya board

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10 – Former Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Representative Jane Kiptoo has been named the chairperson Bomas of Kenya’s board of directors.

President William Ruto made the appointment in a Gazette Notice published on Friday.

Kiptoo who served as a lawmaker between 2017 and 2022 will lead the board for a period of three years.

In making the appointment, Ruto revoked Khadija Awale’s tenure.

Kiptoo was appointed alongside several other former lawmakers including Daniel Rono who served as Keiyo South MP.

Rono was named chairperson of the board of directors of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

Consequently, the appointment of Mary Chao Mwadime was revoked.

Rono will serve for a period of 3 years effective February 10.

Other key appointments

Ruto also named former Bumula MP Moses Wekesa Mabonga Chairperson of the Insurance Regulatory Authority revoking Mohammed Amin Sheikh’s appointment.

Mabonga will equally serve for a period of 3 years.

The Northern Water Works Development Agency board was equally affected in the new appointments, Ruto has revoking the appointments of Shaban Ali Isaak, Abdirahman Haji Yare, Suleiman Ali Gufu, Khadija Abdulahi and Raphaella Lentoimanga.

The Head of State named Nasri Sahal as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Northern Water Works Development Agency, until July 4, 2025.

In addition, he appointed John Lekuton, Elias Shill, Christine Jepkoech and Osman Abdi Sirat as members of the Board of Directors of Northern Water Works Development Agency.

At Rivatex East Africa Limited, former Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi was shown the door to pave way for former Nandi Governor Cleophas Lagat.

Lagat will serve as chairperson for three years.

UDA Gubernatorial Candidate for Isiolo, Hussein Tene, replaced Capt. Paul Rukaria as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya National Trading Corporation for three years.

Ruto also revoked the appointment of Omar Jibril Mohamed as Chairperson of the Kenya National Library Services Board, replacing him with Robert Theuri.
