NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 20 – An alleged protest tweet by former Nyeri Town lawmaker Ngunjiri Wambugu faulting the nomination of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s daughter Winnie to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) originated from a parody account.
Ngunjiri who supported Odinga’s presidential bid under the Azimio la Umoja Coalition refuted the sentiments attributed to him by a Twitter account bearing striking resemblance to his official account.
The parody account running under the handle @ngunjiriwambug termed Winnie Odinga’s nomination as “sad” with the lawmaker reportedly claiming he and others lost their seats due to their decision to support Odinga.
A review of the account later revealed a change in username to @BrianMOfficial_ with a bio description “commentary account.
Ngunjiri who responded to the misleading tweet which had attracted comments from hundreds of users clarified that he does not make comments using the channel adding that he would not need help to speak his mind.
In a tweet sent out from his handle @ngunjiriwambugu, the former legislator described the post as fake.
