NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 11 – Agri-digital marketing company Farmer on Fire has rolled out a training program that will train women and school going children on food security, economic empowerment, and climate sustainability in the country.

The initiative will be rolled out in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs).

The organization seeks to support women, youth, and other marginalized groups with targeted technical, financial, and entrepreneurial capacity building and support to promote their engagement, ownership, employment opportunities, and incomes in agribusiness.

“The programme will support the youth and women in the ASAL areas to Implement agribusiness gardens of indigenous vegetables that include mushrooms that can be scaled and or replicated as well as train them on digital marketing skills of their farm produce, using online platforms to reach a broader market,” said Farmers on Fire Chief Executive Director.

The farmers are also set to benefit from training on rainwater harvesting, building concrete water reservoirs, and designing and training on eco-cooking stoves to promote tree conservation and reduce health-related challenges.

The company says the initiative will also cover training on BSFLarvae production, which provides an affordable protein source for animal feeds to ensure that their livestock get necessary nutrition, as well as green housing and irrigation farming.
