MOLO, Kenya, Oct 31 – Farmers in Mau Narok, Njoro sub-county have been urged not to pay an extra coin for the subsidized fertilizer but stick to the Sh3,500 for a 50kg bag of the commodity as per the government’s directive.Β Β

Addressing locals during the third anniversary of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika observed that unscrupulous businessmen fond of exploiting farmers should not be entertained to give room for the commodity to be accessible without any hiccups.

In a bid to actualize this, Kihika instructed the area ward administrator, Davis Mwaura to work closely with area MCA, Dida Cyrus and ensure that farmers who pay for the fertilizer get it without fail.

The subsidized fertilizer was made available to the farmers through the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in late September this year to enable farmers to grow food crops during the short rainy season.

Having Agriculture among her priorities, the County boss noted that they will help improve agricultural productivity through improved farming methods and extension services among other interventions. This will go a long way in addressing food security issues.
