
NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 28 – The overall year performance on inflation in February 2019 stood at 4.14 per cent compared to 4.7 per cent.
The Kenya National Bureau of Statics monthly report showed Food and Non-Alcoholic Drinks’ Index increased by 1.70 per cent while the cost of several foodstuffs in February 2019 was much lower compared to the same period last year.
Maize grain recorded a drop from Sh60.37 per kilogramme same time last year to Sh35.63 per kilogramme in February this year, a 41 per cent decrease.
House rents and cooking fuels increased marginally while Transport Index decreased by 0.50 per cent, mainly as a result of significant decrease in pump prices of petrol and diesel.
