NAIROBI, Kenya, April 13 – Children at the Children’s Garden Home School and Rescue Centre were treated to a moment of joy after three teenagers from China and Greece visited with donations of food and clothing.
The trio — Nina Ren, Siyuan Ren and Lukas Christos Aliferis — mobilised support from well-wishers in China before travelling to Kenya, where they handed over the supplies to the children.
Speaking during the visit, Nina said the initiative was driven by the belief that all children deserve equal opportunities.
“We thought of giving the little we could because all children should have equal chances in life,” she said.
Lukas described the experience as fulfilling, noting that even small contributions can make a difference, while Siyuan called on more individuals and organisations to support vulnerable children.
The visit was supported by their guardian Mo Chen, who pledged to sponsor the education of some of the children at the home.
Beneficiaries welcomed the donations, saying such gestures not only meet basic needs but also give them a sense of belonging.
Former beneficiary Sofia Zaina, now studying clinical medicine, said donor support had enabled her to continue her education, while Paul Oduor noted that visits help children feel included in the community.
The home’s founder Moses Ndung’u said the facility currently houses about 250 children and supports over 600 others living with relatives, appealing for continued assistance to meet growing needs.
