NAIROBI, KENYA, March 10 – The government is encouraging Kenyans living in the Diaspora to increase their investments back home and explore job opportunities for fellow Kenyans abroad.
During a Diaspora Forum and cultural event held in Dar Es Salaam, Ann Wanjohi, the Director of the Liaison & Partnerships Division at the State Department of Diaspora Affairs, emphasized the importance of financial empowerment through investment networks.
“I urge you to establish investment channels that will contribute to your financial empowerment. By building these networks, you foster a sense of belonging and solidarity,” she remarked.
Wanjohi also urged the Diaspora community to engage in skills and technology transfer initiatives and facilitate trade routes for Kenyan products and services in their host nations.
Recognizing the significant turnout of Kenyans residing in Tanzania at the event, the Diaspora department highlighted the importance of collaborating with various state and non-state entities to establish structures and systems that support the Diaspora in leveraging their considerable potential for Kenya’s socio-economic advancement.
“The event, themed ‘Forging networks and harnessing the full potential of the Kenya Diaspora in Tanzania,’ attracted hundreds of participants, including government officials and representatives from the private sector. It provided Kenyans living in Tanzania with a platform to connect, share their experiences, and celebrate the rich Kenyan culture away from home,” the State Department of Diaspora Affairs stated.
