NAIROBI, Kenya, April 15 – The government has endorsed the TouristTap platform as part of efforts to digitize payments in the tourism sector and improve revenue collection.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano described the platform as a “timely and transformative solution” aligned with efforts to modernize the sector.

“I must confess that I am already in love with this product,” she said.

Tourism generated about Sh500 billion in 2025 and supports nearly three million jobs, making it a key pillar of the economy.

Miano said the platform is expected to address payment challenges across the tourism value chain.

“This is the gap TouristTap is closing. Every touchpoint of a visitor’s journey will now become smoother, more modern, and user-friendly,” she said.

The platform, developed by Craft Silicon in partnership with KCB Bank and Visa, enables cashless transactions across tourism facilities.

“TouristTap represents a new era of convenience for travelers visiting Kenya. By enabling secure, cashless payments across the tourism ecosystem, we are not only enhancing the visitor experience but also supporting financial inclusion, transparency, and operational efficiency for service providers,” Craft Silicon Group CEO Kamal Budhabhatti said.
