NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 29 – Hosts Kenya’s Shujaa will open its inaugural HSBC Sevens World Series Division 2 campaign with a clash against Canada on Saturday, February 14 at 10:50 am, while their women’s counterpart Lionesses launch their journey against Brazil on the same day at 9:44 am at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Kenyan teams will be seeking to win all their matches to collect maximum points in the opening leg to put themselves in pole position to earn Division 1 promotion.
After Nairobi, the Series will head to two more countries: Montevideo, Uruguay, and São Paulo, Brazil.
The tournament that features six teams each will be played in a league format, where at the end of the three legs, the best four men’s and women’s teams will earn promotion to the elite Division 1 in the winner-takes-all World Championships Series.
Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance and get to the stadium early enough, so they can enjoy the full HSBC SVNS 2 experience.
In the same breath, KRU is urging fans to use ride-hailing cabs and public transport, which will drop them off at Nyayo National Stadium, since there’s no parking available at the venue.
