NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 2 – The High Court has suspended the gazette notice deregistering Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s church and schools pending the hearing and determination of a suit challenging it.
In his ruling, Justice Jairus Ngaah directed that the institutions should continue operating normally pending the hearing of the suit.
The deregistration of the church was announced through the August 18, 2023 Gazette notice, but according to his lawyers led by Dansan Omari, Cliff Ombetta and Samson Nyaberi, the church was deregistered on May 2023 but the file went missing so he could not file returns as required by law
The lawyers told Journalists at the Milimani Law Courts that they will be writing a letter to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the office of the registrar of societies.
