Hungary eyes Kenya’s agricultural sector with investment

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 15 – Hungary has pledged to invest in Kenya’s agricultural sector, particularly in the value addition of tea and coffee.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi, who hosted the Hungarian Minister for Agriculture Istvan Nagye, announced that the two countries held discussions on how the European nation would position these cash crops for the Hungarian and EU markets.

“We held discussions on enhancing collaborations between our nations, particularly adding value to the Kenyan tea and coffee and positioning these local brands for the Hungarian and European Markets,” the CS stated on his X page.

Furthermore, the two parties explored ways that Hungarian investors would pump mechanization developments into the Kenyan agricultural sector that would enable Kenya to emerge as a global food powerhouse.

“We explored ways for the Hungarian investors can invest in Kenya’s agricultural sector boosting mechanization and positioning Kenya as a global food powerhouse,” he stated.

The two parties further discussed ways in which Kenyan youths would acquire education scholarships and job opportunities in Hungary.

“We delved into opportunities for Kenyan professionals in Hungary and discussed education scholarships for the Kenyan youths,” he stated.
