September 13, 2010 – Local gospel musician Juliani is due to be unveiled as the NSE Investment Challenge Ambassador, in a campaign aimed at motivating Kenya youth to take interest in the stock market.

Juliani2_717477384.jpgHis appointment comes as the Nairobi Stock exchange launches its 2010 challenge – an edutainment initiative targeting the Kenyan youth to spur them to develop a savings culture.

“Through an online simulation of trading at the stock market, participants buy and sell shares directly using virtual cash worth Sh1 million,” according to a statement from the NSE.

The on-going competition is divided into 3 phases; the Mobilisation stage; where participants from universities and tertiary institutions are recruited; the Competition stage, which runs for 3 months and the Awarding phase where judging is done and winners are declared.

“We are currently in the Awarding phase following completion of the competition that commenced on June 2010 and concluded on the 31st of August,” the statement adds.

The NSE has partnered with NIC Securities Limited as the Award Sponsors.
