NAIROBI, Kenya, July 24 – Online food delivery platform Jumia Foods has expanded its services to Meru and Nanyuki, allowing locals to order foods from KFC at the tap of a button.
The expansion is part of Jumia Food’s strategy to expand its services to Kenya’s secondary cities.
“We are excited to bring Jumia Food to Meru and Nanyuki,” Jumia Food Commercial Director Sonali Patel said.
“There is a growing demand for online food delivery in these secondary cities, and we are confident that our partnership with KFC will meet the needs of local consumers.”
The expansion of Jumia Food to Meru and Nanyuki highlights the growing demand for online food delivery in the country.
The country’s online food delivery market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15 percent over the next five years.
“As a business, we continuously aim to make access to our menu easier and create new channels for connecting with our customers across all our restaurants in Kenya,” said Kuku Foods East Africa CEO Jacques Theunissen.
“The changing consumer trends around online ordering, specifically in Nanyuki where the demand for delivery has grown, have led us to partner with e-commerce players like Jumia Food to provide this service.”
Jumia Food currently operates in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Nakuru, with plans for more expansions in the coming months.
On the other hand, KFC operates 35 fast-food restaurant chains across the nation.
“We are committed to providing Kenyans with convenient and reliable ways to order food, regardless of where they live,” said Patel.
“We believe that the expansion to Meru and Nanyuki is just the beginning, and we look forward to bringing Jumia Food to more secondary cities in Kenya in the future.”
