NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 5 – Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCCA) has opened an investigation to ascertain the cause of an aircraft accident involving a Cessna aircraft belonging to Ninety-Nines Flying School and a Dash 8 belonging to Safarilink Aviation Limited.
Safarilink Aviation confirmed that this morning at 9:45 local time, flight number 053, with 39 passengers and 5 crew on board headed to Diani, experienced a loud bang soon after take-off.
The crew promptly returned to Nairobi-Wilson Airport for inspection and assessment, landing safely with no casualties reported.
Relevant agencies have been notified, led by the Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) and the National Police Service, to establish the cause of the accident, and Safarilink Aviation is collaborating with them in the investigation.
