NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 19 — City residents travelling to upcountry for festivities will now board Public Service Vehicles (PSV) from the new Green Park Terminus following a directive by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
Sakaja made the announcement on Friday following a day-long engagement with the PSV operators in the city as part of his measures to decongest the CBD.
Governor Sakaja said the directive will be implemented starting December 1.
“The Green park termini is really good, it has good facilities and adequate space. Those travelling upcountry should be ready to board from Green park because beginning December 1 we are relocating all long distance PSVs there,” Governor Sakaja stated.
The terminus which was constructed by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) at the cost of Sh250 million, was initially intended for PSVs plying Langata and Ngong road routes.
NMS conducted three test runs to check its efficiency, but was unable to implement the relocation.
Governor Sakaja said his administration will not conduct any test runs.
“There will be no trials like the ones we have been treated to before. The relocation will happen on December 1 so be prepared,” he stated.
The Governor assured operators of long-distance PSVs that there will be no unfair treatment even as he insisted that long-distance PSVs will be locked out of CBD save for those who utilize private spaces for parking including Easy Coach, Guardian and ENA.
