NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10 – As Valentines’ season approaches, Kenyans are spoilt for choice on how to spend the day of love with most hotels unveiling luxurious packages to mark the day.
Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14.
To mark the day, people either exchange flowers and chocolates, go on a simple candle-lit dinner, or exchange gifts while others spend millions of shillings on their loved ones on different packages.
For the latter category, various hotels have unveiled luxurious Valentine’s day packages for couples who desire to celebrate their love with no costs spared.
At the coast, PrideInn Group’s flagship hotel, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort, and Spa has announced an extraordinary Valentine’s Day treat, dubbed A Taste of Paradise, which will cost Sh2.5 million for two.
The package includes two nights at the resort’s presidential suite overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean.
The couple will also enjoy a return business class tickets between Nairobi to Mombasa, and upon pickup, will be ushered to a luxurious limousine for an express transfer to and from the airport with outriders.
A complimentary bottle of champagne will be at their arm’s reach to kick start a night of endless pampering and merriment.
The PrideInn package will also see the lovebirds savour an 8-course candle-lit champagne dinner overlooking the Ocean, with cooling breeze and whistling palms making the moment extra special.
Additionally, the couple will have a personal chef and will be serenaded by a classical saxophonist.
For the hefty figure of Sh2.5 million, more pampering awaits the couple: A massage at the resort’s award-winning Bamboo Ocean Spa and a one-hour jet ski adventure.
The package will also include a pair of diamond earrings for the lady and diamond cufflinks for the gentleman.
Commenting on the offer, PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort and Spa General Manager James Rattos said the package is a way of meeting an ongoing demand for high-end hospitality services.

As for Hemingways Watamu, they will be having a sensational gourmet seafood dinner worth Sh6,500 per person.
In the Maasai Mara, Sir Richard Branson’s Mahali Mzuri camp has a Sh4 million Valentines package for couples.
The package caters for private air transfers, three days stay and two nights accommodation, private game drive, bush dinner and lunch to be topped by hot air balloon ride over the Mara.
As part of the deal, guests will get a complimentary tot of The Macallan ‘M’ Single Scotch whisky.
Hemingways Nairobi has a couples’ spa package for Valentines, with a single package for either a lady or a man of Sh13,500 or a couples spa package of Sh22,000.
They will also have a dinner package of Sh22,000 per couple.
As for those who prefer the highlands, Fairmont Mount Kenya in Nanyuki has a Sh1.8million curated package for couples.
Over the years, different facilities curate luxurious packages for couples to celebrate the day.
For instance, in 2016, Villa Rosa Kempisnki had a Sh5.4million valentines weekend package.
This Valentines’, Villa Rosa has a simple valentines package dubbed Blooming Love.
In the package, couples can either pay Sh9,500 per person for dinner at the hotel’s Lucca restaurant or pay Sh7,000 per person to enjoy a 5-star serviced buffet meal at Café Villa Rosa.
