There’s nothing quite like sports when it comes to bringing people together. It provides a platform for people to unite and support their country. No other group of personalities brings this to light like our Kenyan sportsmen and women. They are our biggest export and they constantly do us proud year in year out.

On Friday July 28th 2023, The Cabinet Secretary Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba presided over the Inaugural Cabinet Secretary’s Champions Reception Gala Dinner, an event that recognized and celebrated the heroes and heroines in the Sports and Creative Arts Space. The event saw in attendance over 1,000 sportsmen and women as well as those in the creative spaces, including Kenya’s most decorated living legends, gather and celebrate together at the Safari Park Hotel. It was quite an eventful night of recognition with a goal of rewarding the best in Kenya and to build partnerships.

The event was graced by various dignitaries including PS Ismail Maalim, French Ambassador Arnaud Suquet, Indian High Commissioner H.E. Namgya Khampa, NOCK president Paul Tergat, AK President Gen. Jackson Tuwei, Shabana FC Club Chairman Jared Nevaton among others.
CS Hon. Ababu Namwamba reiterated that Kenya’s Sportsmen and Women alongside our creatives are our premium heritage and most precious export to the world. “Without a doubt, our sportsmen and women as well as our creatives are the goose that lay the golden egg. We must start honouring them as deserved because nothing brands this country better, more finely than our impressive sportsmen and creatives.”

While distributing over 100 million shillings cash rewards, the CS said his ministry had begun a new dawn of monetary rewards to the best performers across the board as well as rolling out deliberate, intentional and strategic plan to attract corporate sponsorships and partners. “When you see the high number of ambassadors and corporate partners in attendance here tonight, you should know that it is not by fluke. We are deliberate and intentional in building partnerships that will support our drive under #TalantaHela initiative to transform these spaces.”
