KISII, Kenya, Jan 16 – The Burial Ceremony of the two siblings who were killed in cold blood took place Monday at their home in Kiobegi location in Kisii County.
The siblings aged ten months and two years were hacked to death by their father Nelson Ontita two weeks ago.
Ontita was arrested and locked in Nyangusu police cells,he was later presented in court under miscellaneous application.
Among the investigations conducted include mental assessment on the suspect who was found fit to face trial according to the psychiatrist report.
Two pangas with blood stains,a trouser and a pair of sandals which were on the scenes of crime were taken to the government chemist for analysis.
The investigation officer said he will close the miscellaneous file and he will present the suspect in court with the murder charges on 23rd of this month.
” We are set to close the miscellaneous file and ready to open a a new file whereby we will present the suspect with Murder charges in court”Said the investigation officer.
postmortem for the slain kids was conducted on Friday last week at Nyamache level four hospital.
The report indicated the mitchel Momanyi aged ten months died of head injury and spinal code injury due to the sharp force trauma while her sister Gloria Kemuma aged died of head injury due to the sharp force trauma.
Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is conducting a public inquiry in Kisii to look into the recent killings in Kisii.
KNCHR Chief Executive Officer Dr.Benard Mogesa said the recent killings in Kisii attracted the attention of the Commission and other stakeholders.
Mogesa said the purpose of holding public participations in the county is to seek readdress for the victims and the witnesses in these incidents.
“We are going to address issues which are linked to the killings such as land disputes, right to life,disinheritance of widows, and Gender Based Violence”Said Mogesa.
The Commission will conduct a four day weekend public participation which will involve various stakeholders including that of the county and National government.
During the public inquiry the Commission will also offer free legal aid services.
