NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 23 – Kenya Airways (KQ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with London Metropolitan University to enhance aviation education and training.
The agreement, signed by KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka and London Metropolitan University Vice-Chancellor Julie Hall, will enable the airline’s training arm, KQ Pride Centre, to offer specialized aviation programs in collaboration with the UK-based institution.
Kilavuka emphasized that the partnership is part of KQ’s transformation strategy to upskill employees with modern learning and new ways of working.
“This is a key milestone for us. Our goal is to provide Kenya Airways staff with access to quality education while bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world aviation expertise,” said Kilavuka.
The partnership will introduce degree, master’s, and PhD-level aviation courses, initially for KQ employees before expanding to other aviation professionals and the general public.
London Metropolitan University Vice-Chancellor Julie Hall welcomed the collaboration, calling it a significant step in strengthening aviation talent development in Africa.
“This is our first partnership in Africa, and we are excited to work with Kenya Airways. Our expertise in aviation training will help open doors for professionals in the industry,” said Hall.
The MoU outlines cooperation in areas such as aviation management and digital aviation futures, ensuring that training aligns with global industry standards.
