Liquor firm Africa Spirits Limited placed under administration

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 20 – Africa Spirits Limited (ASL), an alcoholic beverage company owned by businessman Humphrey Kariuki, has officially been placed under administration following financial distress and operational difficulties.

According to a public notice issued on Friday, Peter Kahi of PKF Consulting (K) Limited has been appointed as the administrator of Africa Spirits Limited (ASL), effective June 17, 2025.

With this development, all powers over the company’s assets and operations have been transferred to the administrator.

“NOTICE is hereby given that Peter Kahi of PKF Consulting (K) Limited, Kalamu House, Grevillea Grove, Westlands and PO Box 14077-00800 Nairobi was appointed as the Administrator of Africa Spirits Limited (Under Administration) on 17 June 2025,” read the notice in part.

Consequently, the directors, shareholders, and employees of the company have been stripped of any authority to transact or make decisions on behalf of the firm without written consent of the administrator.

“Moving forward, all matters, operational or otherwise, pertaining to the affairs of the Company should be directed to the Administrator or his authorised representatives,” it added.

In a move to take full control of the company’s operations, Kahi has urged all creditors to submit details of their claims by July 18, 2025.

Stakeholders have been advised to direct all inquiries relating to ASL to PKF Consulting’s offices in Westlands, Nairobi.

The liquor manufacturer, which has previously faced legal and regulatory hurdles, has been battling financial turbulence in recent years.

The decision to place it under administration is seen as a measure aimed at salvaging the company’s assets, restructuring its operations, and potentially offering a path toward recovery.
