NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 1 – Long distance Public Service Vehicles (PSV) have already started making their way to their new zone at the Green park termini, following Governor Johnson Sakaja’s directive that they move from the Central Business District (CBD) effective December 1st 2022.
Starting 10 am on Thursday, various Saccos had already claimed their slots at the termini, with little activities of passengers boarding and disembarking even as the exercise gains momentum.
A spot check by Capital News established that PSVs which transport passengers to upcountry regions such as Western, Nyanza and South Rift including North Rift, South Rift, Nairobi Bus, Classic Sacco, Wareng Sacco, Transline, We travelers and Bungoma line.
The Saccos sighted ferry passengers to Bomet, Kericho, Nakuru, Kisii, Eldoret, Kakamega, Kapsabet, Kisumu, Mumias, Nakuru and Busia.
At the termini the County Government has also provided a Nairobi Commuter rail which is ferrying passengers disembarking to Nairobi to Ambassador stage.
“We’ve held fruitful consultations with the leadership of Long Distance SACCOs coming in through Waiyaki Way. As from tomorrow they will use the Green Park Terminal as a drop off. We shall also ensure passengers disembarking there have the option of cheap shuttle to ambassador as they come into Nairobi,” Governor Sakaja stated on Wednesday during a meeting with long distance Sacco leaders.
He added that a list of specific saccos using the facility will be shared.
