NAIROBI, Kenya, February 2, 2026 — Kayole Starlets technical coach Esther Mazira has praised her players’ resilience and unity after they secured a much-needed victory in Kisumu, ending a difficult run of results that had tested both the squad and their supporters.
Speaking after the match, Mazira highlighted her team’s improved attacking intent and discipline, noting that Starlets took control of the game early and never allowed their opponents room to recover.
“We had good attacking power and created chances. Scoring two goals was important, and we didn’t give the opponents the tempo to come back into the game,” Mazira said.
The victory marked Kayole Starlets’ first win after a prolonged losing streak, a result the coach believes could be a turning point in their season.
“The girls showed great commitment today. Their spirit was very high and they worked extremely hard. This win will give us morale as we return to the league,” she added.
Mazira emphasized that teamwork and collective effort were the foundation of the performance, describing the players’ attitude as exemplary.
“The team spirit was top. Everyone gave everything, that’s the basic thing. When you have good teamwork, results will come,” she said.
The coach also acknowledged the difficult weeks the club has endured, thanking fans and stakeholders who remained supportive during the tough period.
“It has been hard for everyone, the players, the technical bench, and the fans. This win gives morale to all of us. I thank everyone who stood with us through the losses and now celebrates the win with us,” Mazira said.
With renewed belief, Mazira says the focus now shifts to consistency as Starlets target more points in the coming fixtures.
“I believe there is something good we are building here. If we stay together from the beginning to the end, we will get positive results.”
