NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 14 – The Moi International Airport (MIA) in Mombasa has been recognized as Africa’s best airport by size and region in the under 2 million passenger per year category in 2023 by the Airport Council International (ACI).
In a statement by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), the recognition was based on the airport’s consistency to showcase excellent airport customer experience gauged through departure and arrival surveys.
“The prestigious AIC World has awarded Moi International Airport (MIA), Mombasa, the 2023 Best Airport by size and region in the under 2 million passenger per year category for Africa,” the statement read.
“The recognition comes as part of the esteemed AIC Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey, which rigorously assesses global passenger experiences,” it added.
This is the third consecutive win for the airport, as it had also been recognized for the same award in 2021 and 2022.
Welcoming the award, the KAA managing director, Henry Ogoye, expressed the airport’s unwavering dedication to continue providing quality standards and making sure that MIA remains in the top spot.
“I am filled with immense pride and joy from Moi International Airport’s significant achievement. Winning the 2023 Best Airport by Size and Region Award from the Airport’s Council International is not only an honor but also a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence in customer service,” he stated.
Acknowledging the achievement, the AIC world director general, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, congratulated the airport’s team for their laborious efforts, further stressing that other airports around the world should follow in the airport’s footsteps.
“Congratulations to the whole team at Moi International Airport in Mombasa on their success in the Airpot Service quality (ASQ) awards.Your dedication to excellence in customer experience sets a bench mark for airports worldwide.Keep setting the bar high,” he stated.
