NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 14 – Police in Embakasi are investigating an incident that resulted in the fatal stabbing of a ride pillion along Fedha Road, off Nairobi’s Outering Road.
The incident happened after a rider broke the sidemirror of a motorist resulting in a confrontation. The unidentified motorist is then said to have stabbed the two ride pillions reported to have intervened on the rider’s defense.
Embakasi Officer Commanding Police Division Wesley Kimetto told Capital News a penknife believed to have been used by the motorist had been recovered from the scene.
Kimetto said the rider of a motorcycle had two passengers on the pillion when incident with the salon car owner occurred.
Evans Okoth who was stabbed on the chest succumbed to the stab wound on arrival at Bristol Park Hospital located a few meters from the scene while Nicholas Otieno survived with an injury on the right thigh.
Kimetto said the matter was under investigation even as he warned motorists against engaging in physical violence.
“This is something that we cannot allow to happen, and I would like to urge motorists on the road that whenever an accident happens, they should report to the police so that the same can be investigated. They are not supposed to take law into their own hands,” he cautioned.
Kimetto said initial statements had been taken from Otieno, the ride pillion who survived the incident, and the rider to help in investigations.
