MP Babu Owino says he spent Sh58.7mn on DJ Evolve’s medical care

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 15 – Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino claims he has spent a whooping Sh58.7 million in medical treatment of Felix Olinda popularly known as DJ Elvove who he is accused of having shot and injured at B Club in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.

The MP told Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi that his commitment to support the DJ is based on their long-time friendship that started way back in 2015.

Babu denies shooting the DJ and testified that he had no gun on the material day in the club despite being licensed to carry one. He told the court that his firearm had been kept in the armory in the club.

He said that from the ballistic report presented in court, no evidence was adduced by the Prosecution to show that the bullet that hit the DJ was discharged from his firearm.

He told the court that of ten prosecution witnesses who testified none of them pointed a finger that he was involved in the shooting.

The court heard that the Prosecution did not even present the results of the DNA tests taken at the government chemist to justify the case.

He said that none of the doctors from government chemist were called to testify against him.

The legislator said that the charges brought against him for being disorderly and holding a gun in the club were not justified.

He pointed out that even the video that was produced in court did not show him behaving disorderly or holding a gun as claimed.

He was led in his defense in-chief by lawyers Duncan Okatch and Elisha Ogoya.

Owino has informed the court that he intends to call five witnesses who will support his evidence.

The matter was adjourned to 22nd June 2023.
