NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 1 – Democratic Party (DP) leader Justin Muturi has predicted the end of President William Ruto’s rule while referencing a biblical story.
Muturi compared the current leadership to the ancient King Nebuchadnezzar, a ruler whose time of power in the Bible came to an end.
He said the “writings are on the wall” a phrase from the same story and urged people to prepare for change at State House.
Muturi’s made the comments on Sunday during a church service at ACK Gitugi in the company of other United Opposition leaders.
The service followed January 25, 2026 tensions in the region after police used teargas against worshippers in Nyeri.
The incident drew wide criticism, especially from opposition leaders who said it showed how deeply divided the country has become.
Muturi also sustained his criticism of President Ruto’s administration, alleging electoral fraud involving foreign companies and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
He said the nation is “tired” and suffering under current leadership and questioned why police would fire teargas and live bullets at churchgoers including women, children, and the elderly.
Muturi emphasized that these actions beat logic and tested the patience of ordinary Kenyans.
He invoked the story of Nebuchadnezzar as a warning to leaders who lose touch with the people, saying history shows that such power does not last forever.
