Homa Bay bhang seizure

NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 1 – Police in Homa Bay County have seized 2,353 rolls of bhang and arrested one suspect as anti-narcotics operations are stepped up across the region.

The arrest was made on Saturday after officers from Kendubay Police Station, while on routine patrol, received a tip-off about suspected drug trafficking at Achuodho Beach.

The information pointed to a tuk-tuk that was allegedly ferrying bhang and offloading sacks at a rental house nearby.

Acting quickly, the officers moved to the location and searched the premises.

Inside, they recovered four sacks of cannabis sativa believed to have been prepared for illegal distribution.

The suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody.

“The individual is being processed and will be arraigned in court,” police said.

The recovered drugs were secured at Kendubay Police Station as investigations continue.

“We praise both members of the public and the officers involved for the successful operation. Such cooperation is key in the fight against drug trafficking,” police said.

Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in Homa Bay County and beyond.
