NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 11 – Former Christ is the Answer Ministry (CITAM) Church Presiding Bishop David Oginde has been appointed to be the new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairperson.
President William Ruto picked Oginde to replace retired Archbishop Eliud Wabukala from a list of three individuals who had been shortlisted by the Public Service Commission(PSC).
The Former CITAM church Presiding Bishop’s name has also been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.
“His Excellency Hon. William Samoei Ruto has on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, nominated Bishop (Dr.) David Adang Oginde for appointment as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission,” the statement by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said.
Others who had been shortlisted include former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and Amani Komara.
The EACC chairperson is selected for a single term of six years, and won’t be eligible for reappointment.
The holder of the office will be paid allowances as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
Oginde is the immediate former presiding Bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), and is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.
He holds a PhD in Organizational Leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA, having graduated with a Masters in Leadership Degree from Pan Africa Christian University.
Prior to this, he had graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Nairobi, and had also attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Trinity International University) in Illinois, USA, where he undertook his Biblical Studies.
Apart from his pastoral duties, Dr. Oginde is actively involved in speaking into and influencing national policies and issues related to governance and leadership in Kenya.
Wabukala had been at the helm of the commission for six years. He was appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2016.
He replaced Philip Kinisu who resigned in August 2016 after National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) recommended his removal from office over alleged involvement in the National Youth Service scandal.
