NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 28 – Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang says all is set for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment national exams set to kick off on Monday.
Speaking during a press conference Saturday, Kipsang indicated that measures have been put in place to ensure the integrity of the exercise.
“I want to assure all of us that the custody of our examination is good, the logistics and the movements are done,” Kipsang said.
“The government has availed quite a number of helicopters for the areas that will require airlifting. This year we have used all our teachers including those in the secondary school to help in supervision and invigilation. We want to give our assurance that the examinations are going to be safe.” he stated.
He stated that high ranking government officials will assist in the opening of the containers on Monday.
“We are prepared all the way from opening the containers on Monday,” he said.” It’s going to be a whole government approach and you will see so many of our seniors in the government, my colleagues and the entire government with us for the entire exercise.”
There are 1,282,574 candidates set to sit the KPSEA assessments while 1,415, 315 will write the KCPE papers.
Over 60,000 security personnel have also been deployed across the country to secure national examination centres.
The security agents include National Police Service (NPS) officers and National Government Administration Officials(NGAOs).
The security officials will be tasked with manning the examinations containers and protecting students, teachers and supervisors in the entire period of the national exams which include the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE), the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).
