NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 11 – Residents of Kentmere, the Tigoni area in Kiambu County, want Governor Kimani Wamatangi to intervene in the alleged seizure of land belonging to the YMCA Technical and Vocational Training Institute, formerly Limuru Boys Centre.
Locals informed RMM Advocates that the plots of land, 21 and 61 acres in Kentmere, Tigoni, Limuru, are being grabbed and are currently being subdivided with approvals ready and done.
They reported various alarming actions, including visits by surveyors who allegedly subdivided the land into smaller parcels to sell to third parties.
“Regrettably, in the recent past there have been some unsettling activities, including visits by surveyors who have purportedly subdivided the land into smaller units with a view to selling to third parties. Indeed, HFCK has been appointed the selling agents,” they noted.
According to them, Limuru Boys’ Centre was demarked under Trust land in perpetuity to serve as a place to develop young children from disadvantaged homes by the late Griffin by equipping them with requisite and technical skills.
Residents pleaded with Governor Wamatangi to protect the land isolated for public use from grabbers.
“Your residents therefore seek for your kind intervention to ensure the threat of disposal of land meant for the public good is immediately halted and that any approvals given for any sub- division and/or development are cancelled,” they stated.
