NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 30 – President William Ruto on Friday called on Kenyans to embrace dialogue between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying cross-party cooperation is key to unity, stability and better governance in Kenya.
Speaking in Kondele, Kisumu, the President asked residents to give their blessing for talks between his party and ODM, led by Raila Odinga.
President Ruto said the aim is to end ethnic politics, reduce tension and build a united country focused on development rather than rivalry.
“We want to unite Kenyans and close the door on politics of hate, division and discrimination,” Ruto told the crowd, adding that cooperation would help the country move forward as “one Kenya.”
The President linked the push for political unity to ongoing and planned development projects in Kisumu and across the country.
He said cooperation at the national level has already made it easier to roll out key projects that benefit ordinary citizens, regardless of where they come from or who they voted for.
The two parties have committed to forming a coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election with President Ruto who is seeking re-election banking on the ODM support to retain his position.
