NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 23 – Payroll and HR tech company SeamlessHR has raised $9 million in its latest funding round, backed by the Gates Foundation and Helios Digital Ventures.
The investment will bolster SeamlessHR’s expansion across Africa, enabling the firm to enhance workforce productivity and accelerate business performance through innovative solutions such as embedded finance offerings and AI-driven workforce management technologies.
Since its inception five years ago, SeamlessHR’s software has been adopted by nearly 2,000 businesses to manage payroll and HR processes for about 300,000 employees across 20 African countries.
Co-founder and CEO Emmanuel Okeleji emphasized the funding’s focus on improving workforce productivity and the quality of life for African workers.
“While we continue to optimize workforce productivity across the public and private sectors, much of our attention will also be on empowering hardworking Africans with responsible credit products to improve their lives,” Okeleji said.
He noted that the company’s embedded finance products will help address challenges caused by global disruptions such as inflation and food insecurity by enabling working Africans to access basic needs like shelter, mobility, food, and education through responsible credit.
Fope Adelowo, Managing Partner at Helios Digital Ventures, highlighted SeamlessHR’s role in financial inclusion, stating, “We believe technology is the key to unlocking Africa’s immense potential as a global economic force.”
