MOMBASA, Kenya Sept 23 – Stanbic Bank Kenya has partnered with Mombasa county in a bid to support Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by the youth and women in the county
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in conjunction with Stanbic Kenya Foundation, the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade and Enterprise Development, and Microsoft, SMEs will receive continuous support from business owners.
”The Stanbic Kenya Foundation will provide SMEs with access to resources and knowledge by distributing over 400 computers and laptops to help them elevate their digital skills and businesses. Charles Mudiwa, Chief Executive for Stanbic Bank Kenya said during the MoU signing ceremony.
The partnership has also made possible the launch of the ‘Future ni Digital’ skills program that will see 1000 SME owners and at least 500,000 Kenyans trained in the next 3 years.
“As a bank we will continue to rally the private sector to partner and work with government to advance their development agenda,” said Mudiwa.
William Kingi, Deputy Governor of Mombasa assured the youth that the MoU would be the beginning of an initiative to eradicate youth unemployment and open an avenue for entrepreneurship.
“Our partnership will empower our youth and allow them to participate productively in the economy,” said Kingi.
