Tanzanian Songstress Abigail Chams Drops New Single, “Yoyo”

Tanzanian pop sensation Abigail Chams returns with her latest single, “Yoyo,” a vibrant, feel-good love anthem that blends Afropop rhythms, playful melodic hooks and global pop flair. The release arrives on the heels of a remarkable run of career-defining moments that have seen Abigail continue to expand her presence across East Africa and beyond.

At its core, “Yoyo” is a celebration of a love that is steady, intentional and unforgettable, the kind of connection that carries you through every season. Built around an instantly memorable “Yoyo” refrain, the track captures the excitement of falling deeply for someone while embracing the warmth, playfulness and devotion that come with finding a connection that matches your energy. The track also weaves together English, Swahili and French, reflecting the fluid, multicultural character of Abigail’s artistry and the increasingly borderless nature of African pop music.

“Yoyo” arrives following a significant year for Abigail, who kicked off the year with a VISA partnership, adding to a growing list of collaborations connecting her music and influence with major global brands.

She subsequently took the stage at the Africa Forward concert in Nairobi, where she was also part of Senegalese music legend Youssou Ndour’s set as they delivered a special rendition of the iconic “7 Seconds”. The performance brought together two generations of African music and offered a powerful moment of cultural exchange between East and West Africa.

Abigail continued her run of major performances at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Finals in Kigali, Rwanda, performing on one of the continent’s biggest sporting and entertainment stages and further establishing her as a performer capable of commanding audiences beyond her home market.

Now, “Yoyo” gives Abigail an opportunity to channel that momentum back into her music.

The track is designed for repeat listens, romantic without being overly sentimental, danceable without losing its emotional core, and driven by a hook that quickly becomes impossible to shake. Its playful vocal refrain and affectionate lyrics give “Yoyo” the qualities of a song made for summer playlists, dance floors, road trips and those moments when being in love simply feels good.

For Abigail Chams, “Yoyo” represents another step forward in a rapidly evolving career, one defined not only by her musical growth, but by her ability to move fluidly between cultures, audiences and platforms.

With a growing catalogue, major international stages and an expanding global profile, Abigail continues to establish herself as one of the exciting new voices emerging from East Africa.
