NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 12 – Food processor Unga Limited is looking for distributors in sub-counties across the country as it seeks to expand its market base.
In a statement, the firm announced it is for business partners who will act as authorised distributors.
“Unga Limited Plc is on a strategic journey to enhance its market presence and product positioning. As part of the strategy, we are looking for dedicated, well-established business partners to act as our Authorised Distributors across the country,” the firm said in notice.
“An Unga Authorised Distributor acts as our market representative in a defined sub-county on selling and ensuring the availability of the Unga range of products{in the wheat, maize, porridge, rice and pulses categories} on a wholesale basis to our retail partners,” it added.
Applicants will be required to meet certain requirements such as Sh3 million working capital, and Sh2.5 million bank guarantee facility.
Others include adequate storage, local logistic infrastructure, copy of certificate of incorporation as well as three passport size photographs of directors.

This comes at a time when the firm is facing stiff competition from other brands such as Mombasa Maize Millers, Pembe Flour Mills Limited, among others.
In the year ended December 2021, Unga net profit grew from Sh293.4 million to Sh311.3 million.
In the meantime, sales rose 1.2 percent to Sh18 billion.
Some of the firm products include EXE, Amana, Famila, Hodari, Hostess and Jogoo.
