NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 24 — Utawala Member of County Assembly Patrick Karani was on Friday sworn in, following his win in the December 8 mini poll.
Karani, who will now be serving a second term as Utawala Ward Representative was vying on a Jubilee ticket and enjoyed the backing of the Azimio coalition to clinch the seat.
Karani won after garnering 1,109 votes against his closest competitor Samson Ngure who managed 847 votes.
Utawala was among five wards whose by-elections were held on December 8, 2022. Others were Mumias North, South Gem, Ololmasani and Kyome/Thaana in Nairobi, Kakamega, Siaya, Narok and Kitui counties
