NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 14 – The High Court has jailed Venezuelan diplomat Dwight Sagaray and four other Kenyans for 20 years each for the murder of ambassador Olga Fonseca.
Sagaray, Ahmed Omindo, Alex Sifuma, Moses Kiprotich and Kipng’eno Kirui will serve the sentences after trial judge Roselyn Korir found and held that the offences they committed were serious and required equal measures.
The four are said to have murdered Fonseca Jimerez at her residence in Runda.
The judge said that the sentence will start running from 23rd January 2023 when they were convicted.
The court stated that both the defense counsel, prosecution and probation officers played a major role in ensuring justice was done.
During the hearing the four were given opportunity to mitigate and in their mitigation they said they were remorseful, and did not commit the offence and the person who committed the offence were not arrested.
