SHANGHAI, Nov 15 – The World Conference on China Studies • Shanghai Forum is set to take place in Shanghai from Nov 23 to 24, during which sinologists from both home and abroad are expected to share insights into Chinese civilization and promote the world’s understanding of China, according to the a news briefing on Wednesday.
Around 400 people from about 60 countries, including former government officials, scholars and academic professors, business leaders, and representatives from international organizations are expected to attend the forum, which will be themed “Chinese Civilization and China’s Path – A Global Perspective”.
Hosted by China’s State Council Information Office and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and organized by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the forum consists of a plenary session and four sub-forums. These sessions are co-organized by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the nation’s top think tanks, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University.
Participants will give speeches and take part in panel discussions about the forum’s theme and promote the world’s understanding of China, covering topics such as understanding Chinese civilization through artifacts, Chinese modernization, modern Chinese civilization, and progression of scholarship in China studies.
Notably, three acclaimed scholars will be awarded for their contributions to China studies at the forum’s opening ceremony on Nov 24.
The forum will also feature guided tours to some spots in Shanghai, such as a citizen center, an AI canteen, the Museum of Art Pudong, Shanghai Westwell Technology Co, as well as an exhibition in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
