NAIROBI, Kenya Oct 31 – Kenya’s youngest Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has taken over the Ministry of Health from Mutahi Kagwe with a pledge to steer it even further.
At 30, Nakhumicha is the youngest CS in President William Ruto’s cabinet which he unveiled last week.
She is a Supplies Chain Management expert having worked in various organisations prior to her appointment.
“I note the immense work done by my predecessor and the officials at the ministry,” she said, “I look forward to doing more great and important things.”
She urged staff at the ministry to dedicate themselves for quality service delivery so as to ensure Kenyans get value.
In her maiden speech, while taking over, Nakhumicha thanked the president for giving her a chance to serve Kenyans as a Cabinet Secretary.
Nakhumicha is among 22 Cabinet Secretaries sworn in last week at State House, Nairobi, taking over from Uhuru Kenyatta’s ministers who had been waiting to hand over.
Outgoing CS Kagwe said he is happy with the work he did at the ministry and urged his successor to pick it up from there.
“I am confident that my successor will be able to steer this ministry even further from where I have left it and I wish her all the best,” he said.
