If you thought your deleted messages on WhatsApp were deleted and gone then you are dead wrong.
You might think the embarrassing, heart-breaking or career-ending messages on the popular messaging app WhatsApp you deleted were safely consigned to oblivion. However, according to a report by Metro.co.uk, thereβs a bug that could allow them to be resurrected to wreak havoc in your life and you might not be able to live down your ‘Bro Ocholla’ moment because it can be dug up.
The article alleges that thereβs a way of getting some of these messages back. The app backs up messages in the night whilst youβre asleep, keeping a record hidden on the phone. This means that if you or a friend deletes a message, all you need to do is βrestoreβ the backup and the expunged missives will spring back to life.
Thereβs also a simpler process. All you need to do is delete the app, reinstall it and then opt to restore all chats from the backup.
Last year WhatsApp gave itβs users a useful feature which lets you expunge old messages called βdelete for everyoneβ. As well as getting rid of the offending texts from your device, it also removes them from the recipientβs phone and tells them βthis message was deletedβ.
