NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 16 – The Aga Khan University Hospital has announced the commencement of homecare services to cancer patients in Nairobi.
The program came to light back in 2022 when it was introduced as a pilot program targeting patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment and palliative care.
According to hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rashid Khalani, the move will erase the inconveniences that patients hailing from cancer and other chronic diseases face while going for treatments in the hospital and will in turn provide easy access to treatment.
“For patients who need continuing care like those under treatment for chronic diseases, we are coming to your home so that you don’t miss the care you need because of any inconvenience,” he stated during the launch.
“For working caregivers whose work schedule is often interrupted to take their loved ones to the hospital, we are asking them to entrust us with their care at home, while they continue with their daily routine uninterrupted,” he added.
Other Services that will be offered include Home Care Services, including, nursing care, physiotherapy, chemotherapy, doctor visits, counseling psychology, nutrition support, palliative care, collection of samples for laboratory testing, free delivery of medications, and wound care among other follow-up care services.
Dr. Julius Kipngetich, Group Regional CEO, Jubilee Holdings, this strategic step will also propel Universal health Care.
