NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 22 – Airtel Africa has revealed its sponsorship to The Voice Africa in Lagos, Nigeria to help discover and champion the music talents of young Africans.
With over 180 countries airing The Voice, it is the most popular music and entertainment competition show in the world.
In order to expand the idea to all 14 Airtel Africa territories, Airtel Africa has teamed with FAME Studios Africa, the executive producers of seasons three and four of The Voice Nigeria.
Segun Ogunsanya, CEO, Airtel Africa, stated in an event held in Lagos, that the Voice Africa will be anticipated to draw and exhibit the best musical talent from around Africa, along with a prestigious group of coaches and TV hosts, and serve as a springboard for international exposure.
“As a business, we are driven by the purpose to transform lives, and that means unlocking the potential for people to grow. The Voice Africa gives us an incredible platform to help discover and champion the musical talents of young Africans, enabling them to achieve their full potential,” he said.
Airtel TV, Free to Air stations (FTAs), and commercial channels will all stream The Voice Africa’s premiere season to millions of Africans in 14 different nations.
The program will pick seven contestants from each of the 14 nations, and one of them will ultimately be named The Voice Africa.
Ogunsanya believes that there is a great chance for African music to be exported on a much wider scale than ever.
He continued by saying that Voice Africa will be able to build a stage on which successful musicians from all around the world can compete.
“Our musical landscape is culturally rich, vibrant, and dynamic and the rhythms of Africa are already making a massive impact globally. There is a huge opportunity for African music to be exported on a scale larger than ever before, and The Voice Africa has come to empower our young talent and help them fulfil their ambitions,” he said.
The Voice Africa is the newest project from Airtel Africa that aims to empower the youth, who are the continent’s most important resource.
The Zain Africa Challenge, a quiz competition that brought together university students, the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs), and the Airtel Rising Stars football tournament for Under-15 boys and girls are among events that Airtel Africa has sponsored over the years.
“Airtel Africa has always believed in Africa and will always do so,” Segun Ogunsanya added.
“As the continent with the youngest population worldwide – some 50 per cent – harnessing their creativity, talent and energy could be transformational for Africa. Through The Voice Africa, Airtel Africa is providing a platform for Africa’s youth to showcase their talent and be the best they can be. The future of Africa is bright. The future of Africa is now.”
Through on-air bespoke content integrations, internet and social media activations, and local events, the creative partnership between Airtel Africa and The Voice will enthrall fans.
Live auditions for The Voice Africa will take place later this year after a call for virtual auditions on October 19.
The show’s premiere will air in March 2023, and the season finale will happen later that year.
