KISII, Kenya, Apr 13 – Kisii Governor Simba Arati will be using the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voters register in awarding Education bursary funds to residents in all 45 wards in Kisii County.
Arati said bursary funds will go inline with the number of voters recorded in the IEBC register in the last general elections to bring accountability while delivering services.
Speaking at Ichuni ward, Nyaribari Masaba constituency Arati said those who were poached to vote in other counties should go and ask for funds from there.
“My administration will give priority to those who voted in this county during the last general elections,” Arati said.
He told those who didn’t vote to forget about bursary funds and face the consequences of not voting in the county.
The County had set Sh 3 M for each of the 42 Wards as bursaries and added 2M summing up to 5M
The Governor directed MCAs to use the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission, Iebc, register to lock out those who did not vote from accruing benefits as bursaries.
The County bursary would cater for high school students only.
College and University students would be partly funded by the Constituency Development Fund.
The residents turned in thousands across the Wards overwhelming the few application forms made available.
He said he had instructed the Ward Reps to give priority to orphans, single parents and other vulnerable segments.
Members of Parliament from the eight constituency are have already used the IEBC regester to allocate constituency bursary funds.
